The only way to get pure milk and dairy products is to go back to how it was during the Vedic times. Our ancient text states that the ideal milk was provided by your own cow or buffalo, which has a large outdoor area to roam in, eats only natural, good-quality food, and enjoys loving care. Her horns are not removed, nor is her calf taken away. Drinking this still-warm milk was the healthiest food, easily digestible and Satvic.
When cattle is kept on Kuccha ground compared to concrete land, they are more comfortable and develop less diseases. Rearing them in this manner requires a lot more effort as the soil needs to be changed every second day. At Satv, our cattle are only kept in Kuccha ground however tedious it is.
The recommended feed in the ancient text constitutes cotton seeds, grams, moth-bean, jaggery, fenugreek seeds (that are boiled in iron vessel) along with mustard oil. This feed not only keeps the animal healthy but also disease-free. At Satv, we feed them with everything stated in our ancient text.
According to Ayurveda, Gir and Sahiwal are considered superior breeds of cows and have unmatched characteristics and quality. It is considered among the one of the best cow breed famous for its milk producing and healing properties. The Gir cow ghee has been given a title of “Rasayana” in Ayurveda a prominent element that works wonder for the overall health and promotes longevity and well-being.
When cows are separated from their calves (a common practice in the dairy industry) they are stressed and it effects the quality of milk. Most of dairy industry ill-treats its animals and that stress is carried forward in what they lactate. This effects the psychological quality of milk.
